Loom

Your space stays yours.

Loom keeps your learning progress, rewards, avatar choices and game time so you can pick up where you left off.

What we keep

Your Google account identifier and encrypted email connect your account. Your profile uses a display name. We record completed lessons, active learning intervals, knowledge-check scores, rewards and game sessions. We also save your reading settings, reward goal, favourite outfits and room decorations.

Your learning journal

You can save optional reflections about lessons, games, Game Studio and Classroom work. An entry stays in your own journal unless you choose a class when saving it. Shared entries can be read and reviewed by your current class teachers and school administrators; their feedback is visible to you. Other pupils cannot read your journal. School administrators can include all your entries in an account data export. You can remove an entry and its feedback from your journal. Your school sets how long entries are kept, initially one year. Reflections do not earn rewards or automatically assess your skills.

Your game projects

Game Studio uses your existing account. Your project names, code, scenes and artwork are stored by this app, together with up to ten saved versions. Other pupils cannot view them. Your test game runs on your device; its inputs and scores are not used for rewards. There are no extra accounts or external game services. You can export a project file or delete a project and its versions.

You choose whether to connect Classroom

If you connect, Loom can read your course names, assignments and your submission status. It cannot send messages, change your marks or submit work for you. You can disconnect in Lessons.

Who can see your learning?

Your authorised teachers and administrators can use learning records to support you. Other pupils cannot see your profile, badges or activity. There are no public rankings, messages, adverts or purchases.

Take your time

We record learning time only while your lesson is visible and you have interacted recently. We do not record your keystrokes, screen or browsing outside Loom. Time by itself does not earn rewards.

Reading in your own way

Read aloud uses an English voice installed on your device. It starts only when you choose it, and you can pause or stop it. We do not record your voice or send lesson text to an external speech service. Your device may need a local voice installed first.

Need help with your information?

Ask your teacher or the organisation running your Loom account about access, correction, deletion and how long records are kept. That organisation must provide its own privacy notice and contact details before pupil use.

Preview profiles are for trying the platform: use a made-up display name. Shared previews do not use Google accounts or Classroom. Practice activity is stored on the computer hosting the preview and may be cleared after testing. Loom is an independent learning application and is not affiliated with East Lothian Council.
